Here are the top stories today in Denver:

1. More than 10,000 new apartments will be delivered by the end of the year in metro Denver. With all of these new apartments going up, you’d think the rent would be going down. Denver’s median rent is $1,445 for a one-bedroom apartment. With the imposition of an affordable housing linkage fee by the City of Denver this summer, some are predicting that even fewer new apartments will be built in Denver. (Denverite)
2. Elementary schools in Denver receive funding through public art. The Magik Mural Project has created three murals around the Denver, and donated nearly $7,000 to local schools. (303)
3. CDOT is hopping mad about I-70 flooding. Colorado Department of Transportation is not pleased that its fancy billion-dollar tunnel filled with water. They’re planning to fine their partner, Kiewit Meridiam Partners, “tens of thousands of dollars” after motorists were stranded because the automatic pumps didn’t turn on like they were supposed to. 4. After outcry, Denver back pedals on ban. Pedi-cabs will be allowed to navigate the 16th Street Mall once again. A few weeks ago, DOTI announced that pedal cab drivers would not be allowed to use the mall for their services. They’ve since reversed that decision. (Westword)
5. $30,000 gone from HOA’s bank account. Nearly $30K vanished from a Denver condo building’s HOA’s bank account. The management company says it was hit by a scam, but has yet to produce any proof. In the meantime, state rules overseeing HOAs, have no teeth. (CO Sun)
