Disc Golf Network Media Update
May 18th, 2022: The Disc Golf Pro Tour has made it to the West Coast after a successful start to the 2022 season. The Disc Golf Network, the DGPT’s in-house media arm, has covered ten events, about one-third of the season’s slate, and we are happy to provide some media coverage updates regarding the remainder of the season.
The OTB Open presented by MVP Disc Sports will be broadcast live on the Disc Golf Network this weekend before the tour moves north for the Portland Open and the Beaver State Fling. Disc Golf Network has announced updated details on the broadcast plans for Beaver State Fling and bonus coverage at the PCS Sula Open which will feature four rounds of live coverage. The Disc Golf Network is thrilled to be making its first trip to Europe, which will include coverage of the European Open, the second PDGA Major of the season, this July. Coverage of the European Open will be included for DGN subscribers with bonus content available via a pay-per-view package.
The OTB Open will see five-time FPO World Champion and Disc Golf Hall Of Fame member Elaine King return to the commentary booth. Her latest appearance on Disc Golf Network sparked some controversy after she communicated indirectly with competitors in an attempt to address a concern regarding a rules issue.
As a result, the Disc Golf Pro Tour has conducted a review process to better understand the issue and the facts surrounding it and has addressed the issue with King directly. Furthermore, the DGPT has determined that Elaine will cover the remainder of her seven previously scheduled events for 2022 and remain part of the broadcast team.
