Reed City disc golf course at Rambadt Park in final stages

REED CITY — Reed City is looking for extra volunteers to help clear paths through parts of Rambadt Park for the long-anticipated disc golf course.
After years of planning and delays, Reed City and Osceola County’s first disc golf course is in the final stages of being put together. On June 3, 4, and 5, volunteers will help clear paths designated area in the park helping put some of the last touches on the 3-year passion project by City Councilman Dan Burchett. The goal is to officially open the course in August.
“I’m trying to be realistic. Obviously. I mean, I would love to be able to get this thing going in July, but we’ll see what happens. It’s all about who shows and it’s all about you know, just getting together and getting it done.” Burchett said.
The course was initially approved by the Reed City City Council in 2019, but the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, and a large storm in September 2021 has delayed the course until this year.
At the City Council meeting last week, Burchett got approval for a woodchipper for the June 3-5 clearing. Alongside this, the Mayor and Mayor Pro-Tem will be out to help clear debris with their tractors.
The layout for the course is mostly finalized, with room for adjustments. The hope is to test the course with a small tournament in August once the course is completed. Then they can make sure that the different fairways face head-on will not be an issue in terms of people getting hit.
