Two Lane County parks will benefit from federal recreation and tourism grants each totaling more than $1 million.
The U.S. Economic Development Administration this month awarded grants for projects in Eugene and Cottage Grove parks. The grants are part of the American Rescue Plan meant to boost tourism and improve recreational infrastructure.
Eugene’s Suzanne Arlie Park
The Eugene Parks and Open Space Division will receive $1.2 million for developing Suzanne Arlie Park’s ridgeline trail connection and mountain bike amenities, a news release said. Phase one construction is expected to begin in 2024.
The project will expand Eugene’s multi-use trails and create new dedicated mountain bike trails, as well as a mountain bike skills park, that will be part of larger countywide mountain biking opportunities.
