DGPT Wrap-Around Season Continues at New World Championships
Disc Golf Network To Broadcast All Three Rounds LIVE!
Only a few short weeks after the first-ever wrap-around event that crowned two first-time DGPT winners, competitors will return to the New World Sports Complex in Jacksonville, FL, for the final DGPT event taking place in 2022. The New World Championships presented by Dynamic Discs will take place at a course many DGPT fans will remember well as it hosted the Tour Championship for several years before the shift to Charlotte, NC where the Tour has crowned its champions since 2019.
The New World Sports Complex (Red Course) is emblematic of Florida disc golf. With a mixture of heavily wooded and wide open shots, players will need distance off the tee and precise upshots to navigate the greens which are often guarded by the iconic spanish moss laden trees. In the open division, Paul McBeth sits atop the registration list and will face off against a list of well know names from this season including, Matthew Orum, Anthony Barela, Isaac Robinson, Garrett Gurthie, Ezra Aderhold Gavin Rathbun, and Brodie Smith. Long time Florida local and 2022 50+Masters World Champion JohnE McCray, will also compete this weekend after a miraculous recovery from a heart attack earlier this year. JohnE, who has captured the hearts adn minds of players for decades, has not played a DGPT event this year since August’s Discraft Ledgestone Open. We can’t wait to see what he has in store!
On the FPO side, Sarah Hokom tops the ratings charts and will be joined by Jessica Weese, Emily Beach, and Rebecca Cox, amongst others.
