After several teasers, the fifth generation of the Jeep Grand Cherokee has been launched in India. The all-new Grand Cherokee is based on a completely new architecture.

What’s New?

Firstly, the new GC is based on a completely new architecture for better efficiency and performance both on and off-road. The SUV gets new design elements, a new safety kit, connected car tech, and a host of other features. Let’s take a look at what the new SUV offers

Powertrain

The Jeep Grand Cherokee will be powered by a 2.0 L petrol mill producing 272 hp and 400 Nm torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 4X4 variants will also get the famed 4×4 Quadra-Trac system includes an active transfer case that transfers torque to the wheel with the most grip to enhance traction. The SUV offers a superior ride and handling thanks to the new virtual ball-joint front and Multi-link rear suspension. Sadly, there is no diesel option. 🙁

Safety

Jeep has focused on the safety features of the new Grand Cherokee. It gets a safety kit that includes over 110 safety features. 73% of the GCs body is made from high-strength & advanced high-strength steel. It comes equipped with 8 airbags and three-point seat belts with occupant detection on all 5 seats. It also gets an Active Driving Assistance System (ADAS) and driver drowsiness alerts. A 360-degree view camera also makes it to the safety kit.
