Here are the top four stories today in Woodstock-Towne Lake:
- Round two of small business funding via the Cherokee Small Business Grant has been opened up early. This round of the program, which was originally slated for 2024, will see another $500,000 in grants awarded to small businesses around the county that have been affected by the pandemic. The application window for this round opens on April 17 at 8 a.m. and closes April 30 at noon, and eligible businesses can apply for up to $30,000 in grant funds, based on the number of staff employed. The program is funded by the American Rescue Plan Act and is in place to help small businesses in the county that have suffered a negative economic impact from the pandemic, have no more than 500 employees, are independently owned and operated and are not dominant in their field. - It’s time for the Spring Healthy Kids Running Series! The race series is for children in Pre-K through 8th grade and helps promotes an active and healthy lifestyle. The first race in the series is this Sunday, and the last race is on May 21. At the end of the series, trophies will be given to the children with the most points, and all participants will receive a medal at the final race. You can register your child or make a donation to help support the cause here. The races all have a Sunday, 4 p.m. start time and are run at Dupree Park, 513 Neese Road. (Healthy Kids Running Series)
