Mohonk Mountain House is only 90 miles away from New York City, but it feels like it’s in another country. This castle-looking National Historic Landmark is located in New York’s Hudson Valley and it’s been owned and operated by the Smiley Family since its founding in 1869.
The resort is known for its in-depth list of leisure activities and wellness programs that focus on body, mind and spirit—something that’s even more important now, post covid.
The Spa
Completed in 2005, Mohonk Mountain House’s 30,000-square-foot Spa features 16 treatment rooms, a solarium, an outdoor heated mineral pool, an indoor heated pool, fitness center, and yoga and motion studio. Last year the spa received a new addition—the Lakeview Summerhouse, an outdoor treatment space that overlooks Lake Mohonk and the surrounding cliffs. The space is used for private mindfulness meditation sessions, small group yoga classes and massage and body treatments.
One of the most popular treatments is the Lakeview Summerhouse Massage. It includes a 15-minute hydrating hand and foot ritual followed by a customized 45-minute massage. Another popular treatment is the Scalp, Hands and Feet Ritual, which begins with a nourishing scalp treatment using a warm, rich oil formulated with evening primrose and macadamia. Next, a hydrating hand, lower leg, and foot ritual is done with a slow rhythmic touch followed by a pressure point facial.
Another popular treatment is the Perfect Formula Facial: A Re-Boot Treatment. This 120-minute facial starts with an extended consultation about your current skincare routine and what is and isn’t working. The consultant will help create a new skin care regimen. Then you’ll experience a sculpting facial massage and a tailored facial.
Mindfulness and Meditation
