Access to roads, neighborhoods will be impacted by Oregon22 marathons

The events of the 2022 World Athletics Championships might be about to impact your everyday travel plans.
With tens of thousands of people coming to Eugene-Springfield to attend and participate in the track and field events, some facilities and roads will be closed. Oregon22 marathons on the mornings of Sunday and Monday will affect traffic and road access.
What follows will help you navigate the area during the world championships events.
Road event impacts
Car and bike traffic, as well as access to neighborhoods, will be impacted by Oregon22 road events.
The men’s marathon takes place from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday and the women’s marathon takes place from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday. Event operational hours on both days are 4 a.m. to 10 a.m., which may impact residents and commuters.
The marathon route will be closed to vehicles during operational hours.
The marathon loop begins on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard near Autzen Stadium. From there, it moves onto Day Island Road within Alton Baker Park, following alongside Pre’s Trail. The course will cross over the Willamette River and then move into Springfield. Competitors will traverse Main Street before running along West D St. and Rainbow Drive. on their way back to the finish line at Autzen Stadium.
Residents whose driveways or cul-de-sacs are directly on the marathon route will have no vehicular access in or out during the operational hours. Plan ahead by moving vehicles the night before to a nearby street off the race route.
Traffic delays should be expected for all nearby residents and businesses during event operational hours.
Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be closed between both intersections of Leo Harris Parkway until July 27. Through traffic on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be detoured onto Leo Harris Parkway.

Barricades will mark street closures at various points around the racecourse. “No parking” signs will be posted in areas where parking is not permitted. Vehicles in “no parking” areas may be towed.
Alton Baker Park and Day Island Road will be temporarily closed to all users 4 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sunday and Monday for the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 marathon races for the safety of the racers.
This includes the bike path and park amenities, such as the dog park, community gardens and disc golf course.
