Dawsonville City Council holds special recognitions for employees, volunteers

During the July 18 meeting of the Dawsonville City Council, the mayor and council members held special recognitions for several city employees and volunteers for their accomplishments and hard work.
The mayor and council members recognized Public Works staff member John Tatum as the June employee of the month, presenting him with a certificate honoring his performance and his hard work for the city.
They also recognized Public Works Operations Foreman Steven McNeal as the employee of the second quarter. The employee of the quarter is decided by the votes of the employees form the three employee of the month candidates from April, May and June, and McNeal was elected by his fellow employees after first being chosen as the April employee of the month.
“Our employees vote on this and Steven got three times as many votes as the other two candidates added together, so he’s very well thought of,” City Manager Bob Bolz commented during the meeting.
Council members recognized utilities department staff member David Schuette for his one year of service to the city, presenting him with a service award for his accomplishment.
“David works in our utilities department and does a fantastic job,” Bolz said during the meeting.
The mayor and council also recognized Planning and Zoning Director David Picklesimer for his three years of service to the city. Picklesimer was not present at the meeting.
In addition to the service awards, the city also held special recognitions for several volunteers who were instrumental in the design and installation of the new nine-hole disc golf course at Main Street Park.
“The new disc golf course has been incredibly popular and we’re not even quite finished with it,” Bolz said. “A local school teacher has been very active in designing the course and pushing its development and helping with construction; we’re recognizing volunteer…
