Hendersonville High School graduated 367 students in 2023, a class noted for its persistence and perseverance by Principal Bob Cotter.
“Who knew that just as they were settling into high school life it would be upended and they would be sitting at home for half of their second semester of high school and enduring all types of schedules during their sophomore year,” Cotter said.

Valedictorian
Aaliyah Ranai Ehiemua
College or career plans: To pursue a pre-med track at Vanderbilt University to become a pediatrician.
What was your biggest challenge to overcome during high school? “My biggest challenge to overcome in high school was time management: I often procrastinated on many things due to lack of prioritization.”
Are you looking forward to speaking at graduation (asked prior to graduation)? “I look forward to speaking at graduation because I believe it’s a great opportunity to be able to speak to your entire class and faculty.”
Extra-curricular activities and outside interests: Attending school sports games and learning languages like Spanish and Portuguese.”
A person who influenced you during high school: “My guidance counselor, Mrs. (Paula) Kolish, influenced me the most during high school: she kept me very levelheaded and reminded me that I could prioritize academics while still enjoying my life.”
Favorite restaurant, musical artist, TV show: BrickTop’s, Lil Wayne and “SpongeBob SquarePants.”

College or career plans: To attend the University of Texas-Arlington to major in aerospace engineering.
What was your biggest challenge to overcome during high school? “My biggest challenge to overcome was my difficult course load since I had quite a few AP classes, especially the self-study exams.”
Are you looking forward to speaking at graduation(asked prior to graduation)? “While I am nervous about speaking at graduation, I am excited to be able to speak at graduation and thank the people who’ve helped me achieve what I have.”
Extra-curricular activities and outside interests: National Honor Society, Beta Club, Spanish Honor Society, “all of which are geared for community service.” Youth In Government, Model UN, and Chess Club. Outside activities include are probably pickleball, ping pong, and disc golf.
