I am deeply dismayed to read about the likely closure of Thames Park pool. The original pool, built in 1927, quickly became a well-loved destination for Londoners seeking recreation, swimming lessons, as well as competitive swimming and diving.

When the old pool was scheduled for reconstruction around 2008, citizens not just from Old South, but from across the city and beyond expressed concern over the loss of the 50-metre pool and 3.3-metre-deep diving well.
