Mendocino College is hosting a 50th-anniversary celebration with a Community Fair on Saturday, March 25, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the college campus, 1000 Hensley Creek Road, Ukiah.
The college provided the following information about the event, which is free and open to the public.
The Mendocino College Community Fair promises to be a fun-filled day for the whole family with a range of activities planned. The event celebrates the college’s commitment to supporting and engaging with the local community. Attendees can look forward to live performances, a variety of free kids’ activities, workshops, and more. Anyone can ‘Be an Eagle for a Day’ with batting practice with the baseball team at 11 a.m., a basketball shoot around with the basketball team at 12:30 p.m., and a volleyball ‘All Comers’ game with the volleyball team at 2 p.m.
Discover our disc golf course with an Intro to Disc Golf game at 11:30 a.m., and a Putting Competition at 1 p.m. Free yoga and Pilates classes will be offered at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., and tours of the college gardens will take place at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. A small car show will highlight the auto department, and activities and demos with faculty and students will engage visitors of all ages. Catch live performances by the Aztec dancers, Ballet Folklorico, SPACE dancers, Instilling Goodness & Developing Virtue school, Point Arena Manchester Pomo dancers, and a preview of the musical Once opening at the college the same weekend.
“This event is a celebration of our 50th anniversary, and we are excited to share this milestone with the community,” said Tim Karas, Superintendent/President of Mendocino College. “Our goal is to showcase the many wonderful resources and programs we have available to students and community members and to thank the community for its ongoing support over the last 50 years. We want everyone to feel welcome on our campus.”
Throughout the day, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the campus and learn more about the wide range of programs available at Mendocino College, while having fun with the whole family.
“We hope that our community members will join us in celebrating this significant milestone,” said Karas. “Mendocino College has been an integral part of the community for the past 50 years, and we look forward to continuing to serve the community for many years to come.”
