The first of three disc golf courses in various stages of development around Grant County is set to hold its grand opening Saturday. The course is located at the end of Newsham Road, on the historic site of the Hearst Mill along Pinos Altos Creek, near Silver City’s Cherry Hills neighborhood.
While the new course has an official address, online maps are not so far proving very accurate with driving directions to it. Course developers suggest accessing the course by turning onto Newsham Road from Pinos Altos Road — the street that runs behind R&L Service Center. The end of Newsham turns to dirt, and there is a parking area available.
According to a flyer for the event, the grand opening will include prizes and raffles. The recently formed Silver City Disc Golf Club will be on hand to sign up new members and provide plenty of people to answer questions about the sport.
