The Panola County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the winners of the 2021 Holiday Decorating Contest.

Judging took place Thursday, Dec. 15 across Panola County. Awards were given for both residential homes and commercial businesses for first, second and third place. In the homes category, first place receives a cash prize, and in the business category, first place receives a traveling trophy to display.

In the residential homes category, winners were:

First Place: Carol Ann Cockerham, 217 Timberlane Circle in Carthage

Second Place: Dan Collins, 100 Rambling Road in Carthage

Third Place: Randy Mitchell, 10338 U.S. 79 in Panola

Judges were impressed by the Cockerham home’s lighted trees, which were painstakingly illuminated along several individual branches. The Collins home was praised for its cohesive design, and the Mitchell home received praise for the sheer number of lights on display.

In the business category, winners were:

First Place: The Popcorn Place, 1116 W. Panola in Carthage

Second Place: Toledo Finance, 115 St. Mary in Carthage

Third Place: The Village Salon, 1118 W. Panola in Carthage

Judges enjoyed the festive Christmas decorations and lights inside of The Popcorn Place. Toledo Finance’s decorations garnered praise for their creativeness, and the Village Salon was noted for its many different themes at each station, all of which were elaborately executed.
