BUCKHANNON — The Buckhannon Rotary Club held their meeting on Tuesday, June 21, at noon at Chapel Hill Church.
Guest speaker, Upshur County Parks and Recreation Coordinator Jeremiah McCourt presented his big plans to help expand and make our community bigger and better. “The high school pool has been extremely successful this season thus far and I’m excited to announce that Upshur County will be welcoming more fun activities for families.” There will be a full 18-hole course for disc golf located at the high school’s park. This will allow for competitive leagues. There are five sets of discs available for rent with a $20 cover charge that you will get back after playing. Also, the large pavilion holds 80 people and is equipped with a functional kitchen and restroom. The small pavilion is used only for shelter and holds 50 people. Both pavilions have functioning outlets and charcoal grills.
The first weekend in August will hold a Triathlon with a 500-meter swim, a 12-mile bike and a 5K cross country course. Different age ranges are welcome such as children, adults and teams.
