Here are the top three stories today in Decatur-Avondale Estates:
- The DeKalb County Police Department reports that a man has been charged in connection with the shooting of a 17-year-old. The Decatur teen was shot and killed near Creste Lane on Sunday around 1:00 p.m. Tavares Spencer is being held at the DeKalb County Jail. (Decatur-Avondale Estates Patch)
- DeKalb County is planning a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of a new 18-hole Disc Golf Course. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 10:00 a.m. at 381 Wilkinson Drive. The new course is at DeKalb Memorial Park. The course was partially funded by the Intown Atlanta Disc Golf Club through a $70,000 donation. (Decaturish.com)
- Saturday’s 20th annual Decatur Wine Festival drew large crowds. A portion of the proceeds from the festival, which was held in Decatur Square, went to benefit the Decatur Arts Alliance.
