April 7 – The first “Catcher on the Fly” disc golf tournament was held at the Cottage Grove disc golf course on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The Catcher on the Fly is a competition that honors the vibrant past and promising future of Cottage Grove DGC, also known as North Regional Park Disc Golf Course. Those who were there and experienced the sensation that is and was the legend of The Grove, “may reflect on past events that took place on the high seas, but also gain a new perspective on how this path has changed and developed over the years. Who knows, you might even catch a peek of a catcher in action.”

Participants in the April Fool’s Day tournament were encouraged to dress in costumes so they could take part in the fund-raising for the renovated course and possibly win some extra prizes. Due to the fact that this tournament is both a competitive C-tier sanctioned event and a fundraiser for the course, $5 from each participant went toward course upkeep and upcoming improvements, and all proceeds from fundraiser disc sales and tee sponsorships were also donated to the cause.

For the top finishers, AMs received two tournament-stamped discs and an onsite script. Professionals competed for money. Pacific Upshot Consulting LLC organized the event. Despite rain, there was an enthusiastic and sizable crowd at the event.
