The fall weather has us looking for any excuse to get outside and Tyrrell Park right in Beaumont is a one-stop-shop for nature, animal and sports fans, as well as curious hobbyists and artistic eyes. Take advantage of the cooler temperatures and invite your friends out to learn something new, find your new favorite place to decompress, relax, or snap some photos:
Learn a new sport
What better way to spend a fall evening than to immerse yourself in a new hobby? Tyrrell Park has plenty of options for every age, lifestyle, and level of competition. Bring your friends and/or adventure out solo because it’s time to play!
Archery range
Situated right next to the Tyrrell Park Stables, the Archery Range is FREE and open to the public during normal park hours; you just have to BYO bow and arrows. Come by yourself or with a group and practice your aim on any of the 10 targets set up on the range. Private organizations offer lessons for children and adults throughout the year, and you can call (409) 626-4925 for more information on how to sign up.
Disc golf course
If you’ve ever played frisbee, you can totally master disc golf. An exciting cross between frisbee and golf, disc golf is played on an 18-hole course strategically placed around Tyrrell Park. The first hole tees off near the Tyrrell Park Nature Center and follows the park’s length counterclockwise. There are two levels at each hole: easy and hard. The farther away the basket, the harder the shot! Level up your throwing power and try to get your disc in the chains in the least number of throws. You can bring your own discs or rent them for free from Cattail Marsh Wetlands Education Center. Try it with friends, or practice solo.
Henry Homberg Golf Course
For those looking for a more competitive sport, golf is a year-round game in our region. The perfectly manicured greens boast 18 holes of superb Southeast Texas foliage and picturesque views any time of the day. This golf course is the only golf course designed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and is suitable for all levels of play. The facilities also include a driving range and two putting greens if you prefer to practice your shot. You can visit HenryHombergGolfCourse.com to reserve tee times, see membership information, find classes and even book a tournament.
