CAUSE IN THEIR COMMUNITY. NICE JOB, LADIES. AND PLENTY OF PEOPLE WERE OUT TODAY TO ENJOY SOME ABOVE AVERAGE TEMPERATURES. YOU’LL SEE THE FOLKS HERE AT LOUISVILLE’S NEW 18 HOLE DISC GOLF COURSE AT CHAMPIONS PARK ALONG RIVER ROAD. CONSTRUCTION STARTED ON THE PROJECT LAST SPRING AND COST ABOUT $50,000. THIS IS THE OPENING WEEKEND AND THE COURSE DESIGNER SAID IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. IT’S BEEN AMAZING, REALLY. I MEAN, YESTERDAY YOU COULDN’T EVEN FIND A PARKING PLACE. YOU HAD TO PARK AT THE OTHER END. AND IN THE TWO YEARS THAT I’VE BEEN OUT HERE DESIGNING, AS I’VE NEVER SEEN A THIRD OF THE LOT FULL AND IT WAS COMPLETELY FULL. SO, YEAH, EVERYBODY’S SEEMS LIKE THEY’RE HAVING A GOOD TIME AND IT’S FUN PLACE TO PLAY. THE CITY HAS TWO OTHER DISC GOLF COURSES AT IROQUOIS AND CHARLIE VETTINER PARK.

Plenty of people were out over the weekend to enjoy above-average temperatures, and some of them were playing disc golf on Louisville’s newest course.The 18-hole course is at Champions Park along River Road.Construction started on the project last spring, and it cost about $50,000.This past weekend was the first that the course was open, and the course’s designer, David Greenwell, said it did not disappoint.”It’s been amazing, really,” Greenwell said. “I mean, yesterday you couldn’t even find a parking place. You had to park at the other end, and in the two years I’ve been out here designing this, I’ve never seen a third of the lot full, and it was completely full. So, yeah, everybody seems like they are having a good time, and it’s a fun place to play.”The city has two other disc golf courses, one at Iroquois Park and another at Charlie Vettiner Park. All three operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
